OUR RESPONSIBILITY
Safeguarding
Taste The Orient is designed to be an inclusive, enjoyable and safe experience for everyone who takes part. The following sets out our commitments to the wellbeing of all attendees, staff and venue teams across the week.
Drink Responsibly
We encourage everyone to enjoy the festival responsibly. The point of Taste The Orient is not to see how many Signature Serves you can imbibe - it's to visit exceptional venues, try things you wouldn't normally come across, and experience Asian food and drink culture at its most considered. All participating bars are staffed by trained professionals and reserve the right not to serve individuals who appear intoxicated. If you feel unwell at any point, please speak to bar staff straight away.
Age Restriction
Taste The Orient is strictly for attendees aged 18 and over. All participating venues operate a Challenge 25 policy - please carry ID. Venues reserve the right to refuse entry or service where age cannot be verified.
Getting Home Safely
All participating venues are accessible by public transport. Plan your route home before heading out. We encourage the use of licensed taxis and registered ride-share services.
Inclusivity and Respect For Others
Taste The Orient celebrates the depth and diversity of Asian culture - and that spirit of respect extends to everyone in and around the festival. Harassment, discrimination or antisocial behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated. Every participating venue is committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming space throughout the week.
Cultural Respect
Taste The Orient exists to celebrate the genuine depth and diversity of Asian food, drink and culture - not to flatten or appropriate it. Asia is not one place. It encompasses thousands of distinct cultures, cuisines, flavour traditions and ingredients, and this festival is built on a commitment to representing that breadth honestly and respectfully. Every venue has been selected for the authenticity and integrity of what they offer, and every Signature Serve is rooted in a real story of place, ingredient or tradition.
If you or anyone attending the festival has a concern about how a particular venue or serve is being represented, please get in touch at safeguarding@theorientalistspirits.com.
Contact
If you have a safeguarding concern or need to report an issue during the festival, please speak to a member of staff at any participating venue, or contact us directly at safeguarding@theorientalistspirits.com.
